A project funded as part of a national call for projects MarioNUM is a project supported under the DEFFINUM call for projects (Dispositifs France Formation Innovante Numérique), led by the French Ministry of Labour, Full Employment and Integration. Selected as a 2022 laureate, MarioNUM began its operational phase in March 2023 for a three-year period.
Project setup and launch of activities The setup was coordinated by Rushed Kanawati (Associate Professor, USPN), with the support of the Université Numérique Île-de-France (UNIF). The launch phase made it possible to structure governance, consolidate the functional scope, and define the terms of cooperation between partners.
Lead institution and governance: UNIF The project is led by UNIF (Université Numérique Île-de-France). Founded in 2006, UNIF is an inter-university service that pools the digital needs of higher education and research institutions in the Île-de-France region. An agile structure of around ten people, it is currently hosted by Université Sorbonne Paris Nord (USPN).
Partner consortium MarioNUM is deployed within a consortium bringing together complementary stakeholders from higher education, engineering, and training:
- UNIF (Université Numérique Île-de-France) – project lead: https://unif.fr/
- USPN (Université Sorbonne Paris Nord): https://www.univ-spn.fr/
- EFREI: https://www.efrei.fr/
- Assofac: https://www.assofac.org/
This organisation aims to ensure both technical robustness, alignment with pedagogical needs, and deployment capacity.
Initial technical foundation In order to build on existing solutions and accelerate implementation, MarioNUM initially relies on several reference software components:
- Mariotel
- Marionnet
- VWIFI
These components form the starting foundation upon which the project’s adaptations and developments are built.
Purpose and target beneficiaries MarioNUM is primarily aimed at higher education institutions and teaching teams, with the objective of providing a structured, reusable and scalable digital framework, in line with current challenges in pedagogical innovation and digital transformation.
